DAET, Camarines Sur --- It will take more or less 15 days before potable water supply is restored in this capital town and the other flood-hit towns of San Vicente, Basud, Mercedes, Talisay, Vinzons and San Lorenzo Ruiz as restoration works are being readied for the three water transmission lines that were busted by the rampaging floodwaters Sunday, Nov. 30.
Naneth Boma, general manager of the Camarines Norte Water District that is supplying water to the aforementioned towns said that the damage caused by the floods was estimated at P10 million, which amount was also needed to restore the busted lines.
She pleaded for the flood-stricken water consumers to pay their arrears and water consumption dues to help raise money for the immediate restoration of the incapacitated water pipe lines.
Boma said her office had already sought potable water delivery assistance from the Metro Naga Water District and other water districts in the province of Camarines Sur to help alleviate the plight of the flood victims in her province.
Meanwhile, Boma expressed dismay over a report she received that a firetruck of the Bureau of Fire Protection in this town made it first to deliver water to a fastfood chain even when there was no clearance yet as to the safety of the water it sourced from the nearby town of San Lorenzo Ruiz and while more homes were waiting for their water ration.
She said it was made clear that water deliveries should be prioritized on households before deliveries could be made on these establishments and that deliveries for fastfood chains could only be made in the evening.
On the other hand, Boma and the CNWD also got its share of residents’ complaints when they pointed out the non-functioning giant storage tank installed by the water district infront of the Hall of Justice in Bgy. Camabugan, this town, despite the huge amount spent for the facility.
USELESS. This water reservoir in Camarines Norte has been rendered useless with the collapse of three major water transmission lines due to rampaging floods that hit the province.
